Centurion Practice over…

Posted by Kirby on 02/03/2011

I just finished a game against BroLo for Cent practice and won a tight game. I didn’t get as many practice games in as I’d like (and none against IG :() and although I didn’t record all of them to the right, I did reasonably well and feel much more comfortable with the list on the tabletop than in Lords of Terra.

Now I  just need to paint a bunch of gants! Still…

Tyranids go!

Posted by Kirby on 01/02/2011

So Tyranids have been chosen for Centurion with the following list:

Hive Fleet Fatum

Tyranid Prime w/Lash Whip, Bonesword, Toxin Sacs, Regeneration, Rending Claws
Hive Tyrant w/Lash Whip, Bonesword, Old Adversary, Heavy Venom Cannon, Hive Commander, Leech Life, Paroxysm
Tyrant Guard w/Lash Whip

2x Hive Guard
2x Hive Guard
2x Hive Guard

11x Termagants
10x Termagant
Tervigon w/Catalyst, Toxin Sacs, Adrenal Glands, Cluster Spines
Tervigon w/Catalyst, Toxin Sacs, Adrenal Glands, Cluster Spines

Tyrannofex w/Rupture Cannon, Cluster Spines, Dessicator Larvae
Tyrannofex w/Rupture Cannon, Cluster Spines, Dessicator Larvae

Totals: 1750 points
5 Monstrous Creatures
29 critters

Nothing unusual from what I’ve been using lately. I decided to go with the Tyrant rather than the 3×3 Raveners just for that extra scary MC in combat, parxoysm and old adversary with Hive Commander providing me with a tiny bit of deployment/reserve shenanigans if needed. Anyway, had a game today against Vince with him using my Mech Marines. Was perhaps one of the most lopsided wins we’ve ever had with a near tabling by the end. Pictures and report are going up on 3++ as we speak!

More pictures from readers: WIP Angels Encarmine

Posted by Kirby on 10/01/2011

Following up on the latest set of pictures we have here a lot of WIP shots from Jesse of his Angels Encarmine. Check his email here:

“Hey Kirby,

I’ve heeded your call for army pictures.  I’ve attached a bunch of pics from my in progress Angels Encarmine.  I’m a slow painter as well, and I don’t have a ton of time to paint each week, so progress has been slow.

I’m running a Jumpers army that will eventually include bikers for Blood Rodeo.  You posted my 1000 pt list a couple weeks ago on your normal blog and I used it in a tournament last weekend and ended up 1-2 đŸ™‚Â  I’m not giving up though!  I beat a space wolves player, but got beat by a C:SM ravenwing list and an ork foot list (40 boyz, 6 kans, big mek, nobz and warboss).  Not sure there was any chance that I could beat the orks, but I deployed wrong against the ravenwing.  I think I’m going to be adding Sanguniary Guard when we increase to 1250 pts.

Anyway, onto the pictures.  The chaplain, two sergeants, and death company hammerer are basically finished.  I’ve put the basecoat and washes on the tactical marines and the assault marines (except their head).  I’ve also done that for all of the assault marine arms and shoulder pads.  I’ll probably be basecoating the rest of the marines, the veterans, and the honour guard next, just so opponents can tell the difference between them, haha.

Well, feel free to put these up in whatever way you choose.  If you want more information or more writing, let me know.

Thanks,
Jesse / Antebellum”

Pictures from readers!

Posted by Kirby on 09/01/2011

I’ve got a couple of articles coming up with some pictures submitted by readers. I’ve been really slack with getting them posted so apologies for the delays!

The first set of pictures are from Steven who sent in this email:

“A while back I had emailed in asking for help with a mechanized CSM army I was painting up as Night Lords.

One of the suggestions was to try it out using Blood Angels, so I borrowed the codex from a friend and explored your BA Jumper articles. I tried out a few things and decided I really liked the style. Very aggressive and in your face, which is a good turn around from playing Hide and Seek with my Tau. So I started the modeling. The cash flow ran dry until after the holidays, when I will be adding jump packs courtesy of MaxMini
The conversions are pretty basic. The Sanguinary Guard have the polearms from Fantasy Chaos Knights as Glaive Encarmines. I was going to order some fancy old style FW Boltguns for Angelus Bolters, but didn’t want to spring for them. So I stuck with regular bolters and stuck them on one handed. Plenty of head swaps were done with the Chaos Fantasy range. Several of the Vanguard and Sang Guard also use Chaos Knight chest pieces.
The Vanguard Veterans have storm shields courtesy of the chaos fantasy Knights and Warriors.
The Sanguinary Priest has a head swap from the Fantasy Chaos Warrior kit…which is one expensive bit btw. Plus a narthecium arm I had on a loyalist.

Hope you like. These are just the final pics. Got more of them in progress if you would like.”

Here are the WIP pics and I’ve asked Steven for some more (whilst apologising as well!).

Any others who are interested in having their work displayed, please send us emails and we’ll get them up :).
I haven’t had a chance to game lately as the missus has a couple weeks off from work so it’s her time but hopefully can get in some games soonish to decide on my Centurion list! Still tossing up all three really in terms of Tyranids, Blood Hammer and Mech Marines. Thoughts still appreciated there!

Blood Hammer versus Tyranids (Kirby v Puppy!)

Posted by Kirby on 26/12/2010

So Puppy and I did a game today on Vassal for Christmas fun… basically some more Centurion practice for me. AbusePuppy was using Tyranids in a Neozilla list and since Vassal is fail and only one army has T-Fex models, I ran my Blood Hammer list. We played mission 1 of Centurion which is spearhead with Table Quarters -> Objectives -> KP -> VP. I’m not going to do a full bat-rep because it’s on Vassal but will give some highlights and a beginning picture and endgame picture. Here are the lists (bolded units are KP):

Tyrant, OA, HVC, LW/BS, Parox, Leech
2 Guard
3 HG
2 HG
2 HG
10 Gants
10 Gants
1 Tervi (Cat, Cluster Adrenal, Tox)
1 Tervi
1 Harpy (HVC)
1 Harpy (HVC)
1 Tyrannofex (Rupture, Cluster, ESG)

Libby w/Jump Pack, Blood Lance, Shield
Sanguinary Priest w/Jump Pack, Lightning Claw
Sanguinary Priest w/Jump Pack, Lightning Claw
Sanguinary Priest
5x Sanguinary Guard w/Power Fist, infernous pistol
5x Sanguinary Guard w/Power Fist, infernous pistols
10x Assault Marines w/2x meltagun, Power Fist
10x Assault Marines w/2x meltagun, Power Fist
5x Assault Marines w/meltagun, melta-bombs
5x Devastators w/4x Missile Launchers
5x Devastators w/3x Missile Launchers
5x Devastators w/3x Missile Launchers

In the end I should of picked the Tervigons as KP but wanted to dissuade Puppy from using them in combat…it didn’t work lol. Puppy also was unable to really make a dent against my Devastators and probably should of picked the KP he was most likely to engage. It didn’t matter in the end. Puppy won roll and gave it to me and I picked the top right corner to minimise the hiding spots for the Hive Guard. It limited the view my Devs had as I kept them clumped together (I couldn’t see into the bottom right of the board) but gave me good firing lanes into his quarter. I combat squaded my ASM and reserved 3 combat squads all with meltaguns and one Priest. I started the rest of the ASM with no meltaguns and sarges on the board. This allowed me to get the PFists into combat early and drop the melta where needed. Puppy deployed in the usual style for Tyranids with his gants providing cover to HG providing cover to his MCs. He failed to sezie (phew).

Calling a new Waaagh.

Posted by fester40k on 23/12/2010

Hidey-Ho fellow Greenskins.

As part of what we do, I have thrown up a few pics of the army I am currently building for my Orks this year…

All WIP, of course, but you should see some more coolness come and go as things take shape (and my Xmas stocking is filled with plastic crack!)
